Sarah Stonbely, Ph.D. (NYU, 2015) is the founder of the Civic Information Observatory. For more than a decade Sarah has been mapping local news and information ecosystems for the benefit of publishers, communities, policymakers, and funders. She has produced white papers, research reports and articles on collaborative journalism, the effects on content of changing media ownership, ethnic and community media, and the structural correlates of success for hyperlocal news outlets. Her expertise is in media sociology, journalism studies, and research methodology.
