
Sarah Stonbely, Ph.D. (NYU, 2015) is the founder of the Civic Information Observatory. For more than a decade Sarah has been mapping local news and information ecosystems for the benefit of publishers, communities, policymakers, and funders. She has produced white papers, research reports and academic articles on collaborative journalism, media policy, sociology of news, the effects on content of changing media ownership, impact analysis, ethnic and community media, and the structural correlates of success for local news outlets. Her expertise is in media sociology, journalism studies, media policy, and research methodology.
